Radiation Safety Officer Refresher Course
Short refresher courses for Radiation Safety Officers and other experienced radiation workers are now available at our Belmont training facility.
Separate 6 hour courses will cover the following equipment.
Fixed gauges
Wire line logging and portable moisture density gauges.
Laboratory X-ray equipment (analysis and diamond sorting)
Industrial radiography.
Each course is designed to update the knowledge of persons currently working in the field or allied areas.
The theoretical areas covered will include:
A revision of SI units and conversions from the old Curie Rad units.
Calculations.
Changes in the West Australian Legislation.
Current regulations.
Licence and registration conditions.
Transport regulations.
Equipment codes.
The significant practical component involving each participant will include:
The correct use of various radiation monitors.
The inspection of different types of dismantled source containers to obtain the damage caused by harsh environments.
Performing routine surveys and tests of radiation source containers.
Preparing source containers for transport.
Completing shippers declaration forms.
Checking the performance of density and level gauges.
Correct handling and reporting of radiation incidents.
The practical sections will be carried out at our Belmont facility where suitable equipment is available.
Course Duration:
Four days plus a half day for an approved qualifying examination.
These courses can be presented on site if required.
