Wireline Logging - TRAINING COURSE
Course ObjectiveThe aim of this course, a pre-requisite to obtaining a license, is to train personnel who intend to operate wireline logging equipment in principles of radiation safety. Operators are required to hold a license in compliance with state legislation.

Any application involving density and moisture content indication down logging holes.
Course Content
Basic background physics. Units of measurement.
Principles of protection.
Problem solving involving the inverse square law, shielding and time.
Biological effects of radiation.
Radiation in perspective.
Types and use of radiation detection equipment.
Safety procedures.
Legal requirements, including the "Code Of Practice".
Transport of radioactive materials.
Accidents and incidents.
Practical component using logging tools and monitoring equipment.
Course Duration
Three days plus a half day for an approved qualifying examination.
Competency Level
On completion of the course the trainee should be able to pass the approved qualifying examination and competently operate wireline logging equipment and minimise doses received to such a level that the hazards are virtually zero.
